Building strong connections and solid foundations. On June 6, Zhi Bang Enterprises Chairman Chen Ming-hung visited Chairman Chang Jing-hu, where he shared his learning experiences during his time at school. Chairman Chen encouraged students to develop an international perspective and strengthen their language skills. He emphasized that his company seeks employees willing to work overseas. With professional abilities and strong language skills, such individuals will be highly sought after by companies.
Chairman Chang expressed that Chinese Culture University eagerly anticipates gathering the strength of the Huagang community through this program to promote the humble and determined spirit of the university’s founder, Dr. Qi Yun. He hopes to rally more alumni to support younger generations, helping Huagang students learn and grow, and serve as role models for them.
Alumnus Matt Chen graduated from the Department of Geosciences in the College of Science in 1971 and founded Yumark Enterprises Corp. in 1975. The company specializes in international export trade, focusing on the development of hair accessories, decorative jewelry, and various beauty tools. After acquiring a bag manufacturing factory in 2011, Chen expanded into the bag industry, continuously improving design and manufacturing capabilities, and established a laboratory to ensure product quality. The company’s mission is to pursue excellence, provide services beyond customer expectations, and grow alongside its employees, creating a happy and successful enterprise.
Chairman Chen pointed out that Huagang provided him with a lot of learning opportunities. Although he did not pursue a career related to geosciences after graduation, his time at school allowed him to build valuable friendships and a strong network, which benefited his business mindset. Therefore, he is actively supporting the “Huagang Talent Development Program.” Through industry-academia collaboration, he encourages Huagang students to intern at his company, and outstanding performers will be offered full-time positions.
Since the 2017 academic year, Chinese Culture University has been promoting the “Huagang Talent Development Program,” which offers two main initiatives. The first invites alumni companies to sponsor outstanding or financially disadvantaged students, helping them gain international learning experiences and enhancing their global mobility, or providing scholarships to ensure they complete their studies. The second initiative involves alumni companies offering internship opportunities, enabling students to gain workplace education while studying, and helping companies nurture and retain talented individuals.
The program’s funds are earmarked specifically for participating students, with Chinese Culture University recognizing the social contributions of alumni companies. The university will also integrate internal and external resources to offer resource-sharing and mutual support for participating alumni enterprises, strengthening the ties between the alma mater and its alumni, ensuring that the Huagang spirit of “gratitude and responsibility” is passed on continuously.
Vice President for International Affairs Kuo Kuo-cheng noted that the College of Business offers an all-English international business program, attracting many international students from overseas high schools, including those from Vietnam, Indonesia, Southeast Asia, Hong Kong, and Macau. With their strong English proficiency, these students have great potential for overseas internships, and he hopes there will be more opportunities to collaborate with global companies, offering students in-depth workplace experiences.
Chairman Chen highlighted that Yumark Enterprises Corp. is a global company with factories in Thailand, Vietnam, and other Southeast Asian countries, and he warmly welcomes students willing to intern in these regions. He emphasized that only by stepping out of one’s comfort zone and attempting overseas employment can one broaden their horizons. He is pleased to have the opportunity to collaborate with his alma mater. Yumark has already had one student from the Department of Information Management intern from April to May 31, who performed exceptionally well and has been hired full-time after graduation. Chen also welcomes students from the International Business and Global Trade departments to apply for internships.
